Do you think $6 plus a gallon is fair or is it just fat-cats making it before new competition arrives? What is the price in Dutch Harbor for diesel? What does reasonable transportation of millions of gallons to Nome cost? Are you beginning to see the extra dollars - just follow the fuel sales backwards... and you learn who is making fat-cat margins.
Gasoline must be shipped in, so clearly the price should be affected. However, fat-cat margins are a good point. I'm sure there is a good deal of price gouging going on.
Excellent point. EVERYTHING in Nome has to come by air, boat or dog sled... until that changes expect prices to be out of control with vendors trying to make a year's profit in 100 summer days... lol
